  1. The children at Timboni have been lucky to receive some Everton kits, the donation facilitated by a couple who have been very generous in their support of Under the Mango Tree. We all thank them. Don't the boys look smart in front of the goal post? We could do with some footballs now... uninflated of course! These will be taken in suitcases when the Trustees and friends visit Timboni in January 2020. Please contact us if you can help.

  2. April 2019

It was a pleasure to present to two groups on the same evening with Gordon meeting the Norley Womens Institute and Angela with Lorraine as backup, meeting the Mothers Union in Weaverham.

There were some interesting questions: what medical treatment do the children receive? How are school uniforms afforded? Do we speak to children in UK schools about the lives of Kenyan school children? Have children access to spectacles? What happens after primary school?

  3. Fabulous news, the two new second floor classrooms are under construction and are progressing well. The roof was added before the heavy rains which has saved a lost of time and frustration. We are looking at a completion date in May, well before the summer holidays.

With the funding completed for the build work, there is also additional funding coming through from generous supporteres and this has enabled us to order 70 desks and 2 teacher work stations. We do ask for tenders for such additional materials but invariably order the furniture from Methodist Church Kenya Community Centre;  established by the Methodist Church in Kenya in 1980 with "a view to assist the needy through training, and other programs". The workshops provide training and employment opportunties for marginalised young men. It also means that the money sent from the UK enters the local economy and helps to support many families in a small way.
